Aspirations

- To live by the Sprit everyday
- To let go of  hindering fears
- To fully embrace joy
- To be helpful
- To be encouraging
- To love genuinely

Shortly after I woke up this morning, I started thinking about aspirations.  Aspire means to "seek to attain or accomplish a particular goal".  I have lots of aspirations.  Some are more serious than others.  The ones listed above are ones that I am going to be working on for the rest of my life.  I'm okay with that.  I totally welcome that.  Other aspirations I have are short term.  I am also aspiring to do more work on the house.  We want to paint and put down floors sometime soon.  These are material things.  I'd like the have them, but I certainly don't need them.  Something else Marcus and I have talked about is our aspiration to travel more.  We want to use our finances wisely so we can have more experiences and less stuff.  One of our desires is to take family trips similar to the ones we took with our families growing up.  We want to make sure what we do now helps make that happen in the future.

Anyway, as far as my heart aspirations go, John 3:30 comes to mind.  "He must become greater, I must become less."  I think that is what it ultimately all about.  Getting myself out of the way and being open to real, transforming love that makes me want to sing, shout, share, and have a heart that is for God and for others.

Other random things on my mind:  Currently, I'm watching my daughter torture Wilford the cat.  Poor cat.  He needs to learn to stay on the other side of the baby gate.  I am also thinking that pomegranate infused Craisins are just okay.  The plain ones are better!  I've gotten to page 50 of Love Wins and I haven't gotten to anything weird yet.  Some of the things that friends in my ConnectGroup have shared about the book made me raise my eyebrows, but I haven't stumbled upon any of that.  I'm hoping to share a picture post soon with some of the things we've done this summer.  I'm hoping to share photos on the blog more often since I got rid of the majority of my Facebook photos.  Why?  I'm sure I'll blog about it.  Oh, and I'm also hoping to change the name of this blog to something more obscure soon.
