This photo is from Bobby and Katie's going away party at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne.
So much has happened since the last time I posted that I know it won't even be possible to recap it all. Major happenings include:
- starting back to work this year
- Bethany's first fever and ear infection
- My bro and sis-in-law, Bobby and Katie, leaving for Thailand as missionaries with Campus Outreach
- My sister, Anna, getting into a major car totaling car accident and walking away without an injury
- My sister moving out of state
- And so many other little things that I wanted to write about and haven't had time for . . .
When I started journaling, I was in the fifth grade. My brother had given me a black Five Star journal sized notebook for my birthday and told me it was a journal. I loved it. I started writing about my days and didn't stop.
(My very, very first journal was my second trip to Thailand in fourth grade . . .but there are so few pages actually filled out that I don't really count it. There is, however, a pretty sweet picture I drew of the plane my mother and I were on. There are dialog bubbles complete with crying babies and talking passengers as well as a lightening storm. I remember none of it, but it's amusing to look back on.)
Anyway, I journaled from fifth grade all the way through to my first semester of college. In college I stopped, sadly. I used livejournal for a stint and then started blogging. Marcus and I have had several blogs. Most of them have been lost which drives me batty, but I still have all my hand written journals and I love being able to revisit younger versions of myself . . . and laugh. Haha.
No, that's not completely true. I don't always laugh. I am actually super appreciative. From a very young age, I understood that because people eventually die, time is the most precious commodity on this side of Heaven. Journaling was my way of making my days tangible. I could always have my days if I wrote them out on a page.
In addition to the blogging, I still keep a personal journal, but I am not as consistent with it. I did quite a bit of personal writing during my pregnancy, though, and I'm so glad that I captured that time.
Anyway . . . it makes me nuts that I haven't written in so long. Get ready for a few back-tracking posts because there are some things that I want to make tangible . . . even if it is through a blog on the Internet.
I am also throwing around the idea of starting a working mom/smart shopper/deal finding topic specific blog. Or maybe I'll just dedicate a month of blogging to it. I really want to throw props out to a couple of awesome family owned consignment shops as well as tell others how they can buy their favorite products/groceries/things new for fewer dollars.
Anyway . . . I will be writing specifically about Bethany's four month checkup tonight! More to come!
