Bethany's Baptism

Bethany's Baptism on Sunday, March 6, 2011

Bethany was baptized this past Sunday.  It was very special for her mommy and daddy.  Marcus and I consider it a blessing and honor that God chose us to be her parents and pray daily that we will rely on God and His grace as He leads us in raising her.

I realize that there is debate over infant baptisms and dedications.  Because I was raised in the Methodist church and have Wesleyan roots, my heart identifies with infant baptism.   We have absolutely no qualms with baby dedication, however, and we readily recognize the sacredness of both decisions.  Summit provides reading on both positions at their website.

We were very touched by how many of our friends came to church for her baptism and were excited to share the moment and morning of worship with them.  Everyone from Marcus's boss to Bethany's sweet ladies from daycare came out for her special day.  The cookout at our house afterward went well and it was nice to finally host an event at our home!  There are still about a million things I'd like to do to the house . . . but it will always be a work in progress and putting off celebrating with friends would have just been silly!  Still, I'd like to have the front yard flower bed finished sometime this spring . . . .

Aside from this Sunday, we have been a very busy Burnette family lately.  The weekend before this last one, we took Bethany to the beach for the first time.  So exciting!  I wanted to write about it, but that didn't happen.  We also visited both sets of grandparents, had lunch with Megan at DaKine, and dropped in on the sweet Wood family on that same Saturday.  During the week, we had our Connect Group, dinner with the Smiths, and picked up Sara from the airport and then worked like crazy getting the house ready for company!  So busy!  I am putting absolutely nothing on the calendar for this Saturday and am hoping we can just relax.  :)
