Marcus and I took Bethany to the park for the first time today. She absolutely loved it! Especially, the swing.
She also got to wear her first bonnet to church today. Bonnets are not Marcus' favorite, but I think they're just too stinkin' cute. This picture was taken with an iPhone! Impressive, right?
Here are some really short updates on all things in the Burnette family:
- I am loving spring break! Love, love, loving it!
- My fast from Facebook is going better than I thought it would. On Saturday and Sunday, I use it a little bit to check up on my brother in Thailand and send messages to friends. Other than weekends (which I had decided I would allow myself), I have stayed away from it which is pretty impressive if you know me. Facebook is a pretty exciting communication tool, but not using it everyday has actually been awesome. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.
- We are staying true to purchasing organic poultry and beef and have found ways to make it less expensive. For one, we're using less meat per meal which is healthier for us, and two, I like to price check things. I went into Whole Foods (Yep. Me. Miss-How-Can-I-Find-This-For-Fewer-Dollars went into the most expensive grocery store in our area.) I'm not going to lie, it's a really nice store and I can see why people enjoy shopping there. It always reminds me of grocery shopping at Safeway in Seattle. Anyway, I did some price checking and then did the same thing at Cavallari's and Publix. Last week, Cavallari's won, this week it was Publix. Publix seriously rocked this week. (Spent $55. Saved $23. How can you not love that?) Whole Foods has yet to lure me with a good deal, but they do run some pretty decent weekly specials. We are also adding in more organic vegetables. We haven't found any organic options for Canadian bacon, though . . .and man, we do like our breakfast foods . . .
- We're also switching to greener cleaning products. I don't like wasting things, so we're using up what we have, but we did buy some "green" dish soap. Bethany uses Burt's Baby Bee products (thanks to super awesome friends who gave her a bunch of them at her baby showers) and I'm thinking about trying some more natural options for myself, too. I will have a hard time with the laundry detergent, though. Everyone has their favorites when it comes to household products and Marcus and I both love Gain. I don't even think I can switch. I don't know. (Don't' worry, we use Dreft for Bethany.)
-I still want to write separate posts about Lent, Bethany's favorites, baby food, and our adventures with saving and shopping. Maybe I'll actually get around to it this week...
