Three months ago when I entered my third trimester, Marcus and I said that we'd make our usual Friday night date night a top priority for the next 12 weeks. Part of me didn't think we'd make all 12 dates (because I thought Bethany would arrive early), but we did! Yesterday, Marcus texted me while I was at school asking if I wanted to go to Bahama Breeze which sounded great.
Well, on our way, I started wondering where we were going. Marcus wasn't driving toward Altamonte which is where the nearest Bahama Breeze is to our home. I ask him and says, "Oh, I just want to try the one on I-Drive since we haven't been there." In my head, I am thinking that this is weird and a waste of gas, but whatever, I'll go with it. For a minute I got suspicious, but when he pulled off on I-Drive and into the Bahama Breeze, I figured that he really did want to try this particular one!
We were seated quickly. I ordered shrimp and grits and Marcus decided on buttermilk fried chicken. We talked about my last day of work and Marcus's Friday. We also talked about Bethany's impending arrival. Marcus is sure she will arrive this week . . . I am hoping and praying that she doesn't want to be late! I really don't want to induce unless it's medically necessary, but I also don't want to lose any of my leave time with her. Ugh. We'll just see!
Anyway, after we order, Marcus tells me that we're going to Night of Joy and that he had Bobby and Katie (they were able to get a great discount) pick up tickets for us. I get really excited because we had talked about going, but had decided against it because we didn't want me to give birth at Disney World. Haha! I thought it was super sweet of Marcus to get the tickets!
We met Bob and Katie at the park and tried to pay them back, but they wouldn't LET us! They said it was Marcus's birthday gift and Bethany's soon-to-be-birthday gift. We were a little frustrated by that at first, but we're going to find a way to pay them back! Even though it was a very warm night, we had a great time and Bethany got to hear some great music.
We were able to see David Crowder Band, Tenth Avenue North, a good thirty minutes of Chris Tomlin, and most of Casting Crowns. We were tired by the end of the night and didn't stay until the end. Everyone was frustrated by my stubborness to not take a wheel chair, but I really didn't walk all that much. I stood for the first two shows and for Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns was able to sit with Marcus and just enjoy the music. We were able to snag two chairs near a restaurant on Main Street that had a decent view of the Castle's screen of the stage. (Bob and Kate joined us after Chris Tomlin since they didn't go to Tenth Avenue North with us.)
It was a very fun last hurrah as just me and Marcus. My husband is so sweet to want to do something special for our last date as the two of us. One of my favorite memories from the night was just sitting together singing "How Great is our God" in our little chairs along with Chris Tomlin.
I was completely exhausted as we made our way back to the car at the end of the night and fell asleep on the way home, but it was worth it! I'll always remember this sweet and special date night.
Now, Marcus and I are more than ready to meet our little girl and we are looking forward to spending lots and lots of nights at home together as a family.
