(Monday night date night)
Quick weekend recap - We took Bethany to the mall for the very first time on Saturday. We are thankful for our stroller! She seemed to really be interested in everything that was going on before she fell asleep! Haha! We found her a cute red panne dress with a pretty bow in the center.

It is actually not what I had in mind, but Marcus and I both think it will be adorable on her. Originally, I wanted a very traditional red and green Christmas gingham with a either a black or red velvet collar and a velvet sash. Haha. Hence, ladies and gentlemen, the reason why I need to learn how to sew!
The rest of our trip was spent mostly walking around with Bethany. We did stop in at Barnes and Noble because I had found an old gift card in my dresser. Turns out it had $23 on it, so we got Bethany some new board books. That was a fun discovery!
On to date night . . .
Last night, Marcus and I went on our first date since Bethany's birth. I think I could have put off date night for another month, but I've been encouraged by friends and family to try and leave Bethany with trusted sitters for a few hours in order to help me with transitioning into going back to work. I am not going to lie, last night was not easy! Bethany was left with her first non-related baby-sitters. Robyn and Doug, our friends who watched her, are both sweet, wonderful, and trusted friends. I had no reason to worry, but somehow, as a mom, you just do! (Robyn is also a pediatric nurse. She's the best person in the world to watch your baby and yet, somehow I shed tears in her driveway!) Marcus wasn't worried and kept reminding me that Bethany was doing great. Robyn and Doug also sent us texts and picture updates through dinner and miniature golf. (Marcus bought a groupon for Congo River back in August and I had a giftcard to Friday's that we finally got to use! Yay for dates paid for in advance!)
Date night is sooo completely different after you have a baby! Those care-free days are long gone and someone else is always on your mind! Haha!
Having dinner with Marcus was really nice even with my mild separation anxiety and somewhere around hole seven, I started to actually have fun during mini-golf. I'm glad my husband is patient with me. I'm sure it's no fun to be with someone who just wants to get through a date instead of actually enjoying it. He loves me anyway, though, and I love him so much for it! I will get better at date night. It's just going to take some time.
After Marcus took our picture (You know I'm out of it if Marcus is prompting pictures, I'm obsessive about them!) and we fed the gators with our free gator food, we went back to the Hathaway home to find our precious girl sleeping peacefully and ready to go. Robyn went over how great Bethany was and that Doug even held her. They're expecting in March, so I know they enjoyed the practice! It was good for me to see that the occasional date night is possible and I'm super thankful for sweet friends who love our daughter. (Robyn and Doug really are the best.)
Well, today is Bethany's two-month appointment! I'll be sure to write about it later!
