I like finding good deals.  It is almost like a game for me.  How can I find what I want for less than what it is currently being advertised.  There is a thrill in the hunt and the satisfaction of knowing that spending is being done wisely.  Of course, there a few things I will pay full price for, but if I know of a way to get it for less - I'm going to try!

That being said, I want to give some well deserved free advertising to a few of the local consignment shops that I like to frequent in my area.  Now, I know not everyone is into consignment shopping, but I have learned to love it for several reasons.

One: I am helping small and local businesses.
Two: there is something so fun in finding something completely cute and completely unique!
Three: whatever you find is usually a great deal.

If you ever have an itch to check out some great resale shops, here are the ones to check out:

Max and Marley of Winter Park
- This is an up-scale children's resale boutique.  The owner is wonderful and the store is just too cute.  She carries high quality smocking, luxe labels, and beautiful classic children's wear.  I just found out it about this weekend and am so excited that it exists!  You will pay much more here than at a typical resale shop, but the clothing is also not what you would usually find in a resale shop.  Being able to purchase the extraordinary things that she carries at such a competitive cost is just exciting!  Make sure to "like" her page on Facebook!

Cutie Patootie Kids of Oviedo
- This is one of the nicest resale stores in the area.  The toys are always clean.  The clothing is always pressed and clean.  The store is laid out in a way that is not overwhelming to shoppers.  They also pride themselves on carrying quality merchandise and usually have a nice selection of wooden toys and wooden activity centers.  They are very visually appealing and it is just nice to visit.  Another fun thing about this store is that they sell homemade hair bows and hair accessories made by ladies local to the area.  We found Bethany an Orlando Magic hairbow there that is just too cute!

Little Bird Handmade of Oviedo
- The owners of this store are sweet people.  Every time I have visited, they are just friendly and ready to strike up a conversation.  The unique thing about this store is that it carries A LOT of handmade items made by local crafters in the area.  There are beautiful handmade bows, ribbons, hair accessories, diaper bags, dresses, burp clothes, bibs, etc.  The first half of the store is dedicated solely to handmade items.  In addition to handmade items, the owners also sell a big selection of brand new Melissa and Doug toys and puzzles as well as consignment clothing, toys, and baby gear.  This store also has fun weekly events for children and moms right in the store!

Once Upon a Child - Orlando store

- All right, I almost didn't write about this one because it is a franchise, but it did start out an entrepreneurial business that just grew into a huge success.  This store can be slightly overwhelming and depending on the area, the quality isn't always the same from one to another.  There is just SO MUCH merchandise in it.  From furniture to clothing to bottles warmers to handmade bows to brandnew Ergo carriers that are kept in stock.  I have also noticed that the Orlando store in particular tends to carry more recent clothing because many moms are so eager to get rid of their older things for instant cash.  If you have time (and patience), the store in Orlando is a fun one to search through.

I want to do a blog soon featuring free advertising for my favorite Etsy shops and a separate one about couponing.  I'll get to it eventually.  Mostly, I like writing about my day which I realize is kind of boring, but it is what I am most comfortable with and what I enjoy writing about the most!  I missed it tonight!
