Rainy Season

Hello again! Much has happened since we last wrote. We will try to recap it as best as possible. On Thursday, we had lunch with our friends and fellow teachers Kristen and Mary Jo. These are two wonderful young ladies who have recently graduated and both are giving the next year and half to helping teach the missionary kids here in Thailand. We think it’s amazing that these women are so bold as to step out in faith in a time when many their age are thinking about getting married and starting careers. They both are such inspirations.

That night we ate at Gary and Robin Alward’s. Short side note on the Alward’s, Gary went to UVA, Hokie enemy, and Robin went to Wake Forest, also Hokie enemy, but at least their stadium is named BB&T stadium! J We had “never ending” spaghetti – what a treat! It felt a little like home! We also had Coke and garlic bread – yum! It’s different when we eat “Fa –rung” (word for foreigner) food because almost all the Thai food we eat here is made from scratch. Everything from most breads, noodles, etc. Pretty much all of the meat we eat is fresh- the fish, the chicken and pork. You see stands on the side of the road with skinned full body chicken and geese (I think) it’s interesting but when you eat the food it’s really good and in some instances better than the meat we eat back at home. It’s funny how we care so much about how food looks when it tastes the same and being real here –it comes out the same. J Back to dinner! The Alward’s had many of the soccer guys from his team over and we all chatted and had a great time. I busted out our learning Thai homework and they got a kick out of helping me learn the words. Most of the college students speak at least some English since they have been taught it since grade school. All in all, it was a great day and an especially great food day!

Here’s a couple pictures from their house: the picture of left left shows Gary, Thon, and Dewey. The picture on the right shows Gary’s kids John and Becca and from left to right Katie, PYute, Fish, Tham, Block, and BEn (on phone)

Lots of Pics!!

Posted By: Katie and Bobby

It’s Thursday morning - the week is so far, so good! Over the weekend, we went to visit Bobby’s Uncle Paul and Aunt Ann’s home here. They live in the states, but have a house here as well. It was beautiful! They offered for us to stay there, but it’s even further from the church & school. Plus we don’t have transportation! But we will probably stay there sometimes on the weekends as a little getaway!

This top picture is us in front of Ann & Paul’s home with (from left to right): Apple, PNid, NaAck, Katie, Bobby, Bang
